When we talk about the Habanera restaurant, we are talking about a unique space, a hidden gem of over 900 square metres that hides the Caribbean essence of Havana. With the six shades of green that cover the interior, the Proyecto Singular studio has brought Cuba to Madrid. A small oasis that takes us to the Caribbean from the first moment we step across the threshold.
To develop this project, we created 11×11 tiles from our ‘Brick Collection’ in six different shades of green to cover the floor and bar countertop for a unique look and feel.
A set of greens that recreate a delightful corner of the Caribbean in Madrid
A project that involved our terracotta and enamels, while developing the colours from scratch. We personalised and cared for each piece individually in order to achieve that authentically Cuban look. Habanera has a large central patio that is eight metres tall, covered in plants to imitate the architecture used for building façades on the tropical island.
“The wood, the plant motif fabrics, careful lighting and abundant vegetation create a space where indoors and outdoors are intertwined, enveloped by the wonderful view enjoyed from the Plaza de Colón in Madrid”.
Chiqui Calleja, Director of Communication
Alongside the Proyecto Singular studio, we reinterpreted the buildings of Havana using a perforated metallic mesh, warm lighting and vegetation to recreate the Cuban optimism. The traditional dishes of ropa vieja, arroz cangri, chips de plátano macho, pulpo a la brasa and tortilla trufada provide the perfect mix of Caribbean and Mediterranean cuisine with a hint of Japanese.
Once again, the Proyecto Singular studio has successfully created an impact with one of its most Instagrammable restaurants in the world. So much so that the AD Australia magazine dedicated an article to highlight the beauty and unique nature of this space.
